Introduction#
Last night, I wrote about the possibility of SP Animation Studio, and then a fellow user reminded me that there were actually two production companies for "Dream of the Stars" animation. So I checked Wikipedia and found out that the production team for "Dream of the Stars" and "Dream of the Stars ~ Star People" left Davidsha and established a new company called [Okuruto Noboru]. They then produced "Dream of the Stars ~ Snowball". Below is my speculation about the SP Animation production team. Please note that this is just my personal opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.
Assuming SP Animation has at least 24 episodes.
First is Kyoto Animation. They have been producing their own works since "Free", without working for others. However, "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid" was adapted from a manga, so I'm not sure about this. Unfortunately, they suffered from a fire incident and their energy was greatly affected. They still have a few ongoing animations, so they might not have the capacity to produce a 24-episode series. Therefore, Kyoto Animation is unlikely.
Next is P.A. Works. In April, they have an adaptation of "Kong Ming". Based on the progress of the manga, it seems to be a seasonal series, so it might be possible. P.A. Works is most famous for their youth romance stories for boys and girls. However, the quality of their key animations has been declining, and they have never done a key animation for a half-year series. If SP Animation has 24 episodes, can P.A. Works handle it? Therefore, P.A. Works is only a small possibility.
The original production team of "Dream of the Stars", now known as Okuruto Noboru, as I mentioned earlier, the animation production team for "Dream of the Stars" consists of the same group of people. This company was established in 2017, and in April, they have an adaptation of "Friend Game", so it's probably not them.
Jokosha, the previous producer of "Little Busters", received good reviews and sales. Moreover, SP Animation can have individual storylines and a common storyline, just like "Little Busters". It seems possible that Jokosha might be the one to do it. However, I have only played SP, so I don't know what SPRB is like.
Tenchou, a well-known fan of Key, produced the game opening for "Rewrite". And then, the "Rewrite" directed by 8-bit can be said to have suffered from animation. Tenchou established a new company and also produced the game opening for SP. However, the ending will be different. They announced the production of "Prima Doll", so it is highly unlikely that Tenchou will be the one to do SP.
Lastly, the production team for "Key 等". It is LIDENFILMS Kyoto Studio, and the director is Kazuya Sakamoto, the studio's chief. He is from Kyoto Animation and has been responsible for storyboarding, original drawings, and more for CL KANON AIR. It seems highly likely.
October 20th Update#
Betting on Jokosha.
